As a wedding vendor, we often get asked to participate in styled shoots. But this one, was...different. Callie Chewning Murray asked if we could transform an ordinary styled shoot to the most unordinary, real and completely surprise wedding. I told her that if it was close by, we could totally pull it off and Callie responded asking, "How about your house?" It hit close to home....and we said, YES!
We weren't going to be home when she first arrived to get ready, so we left her a note to welcome her to her big day. Apparently, she likes notes, too!
How exactly does a surprise wedding work? Great question.
Jennifer and Brian planned to go to the courthouse to share their vows after their marital plans were influenced by Brian's job calling him out of the country. Jennifer longed to walk down the aisle with her father and to see the expression on her groom's face as she walked to join her life to his. She eagerly wanted to celebrate with loved ones and have these memories to cherish, but unfortunately they seemed out of reach.
With only a couple of weeks notice, she shared her sweet sentiments with her friend, Callie, who brilliantly set this surprise into motion. With quick plans, Callie pulled together a team to love on this sweet couple before they were to leave the country. Like that, the surprise was set.
So, when Brian thought they were going to the courthouse, he was welcomed to this scene: his own wedding.
Nicole, from GingerSpice Bakery, deservingly distracted the team a bit when she brought in this beauty. I absolutely love cake, and required all of our strength to keep ourselves from enjoying a piece before Brian and Jennifer.
And, it was more than just pretty, it was AH-MA-ZINGLY yummy.
What a joyful and memorable night! We were so thankful to be able to share our home for this unforgettable experience!
Our neighbors loved "porch sitting" and having front row seats to celebrate this couple's love of this couple.
May life continue to surprise you with new wonders and mercies as you now walk together. And, of course, our porch is open anytime! Happy Ever After, Jennifer + Brian.
Here are some amazing moments from the day: When the groom saw this sign was when he realized he was never going to the courthouse.
His sweet mom slowly approached him with a smile and greeted him to pin on his boutonniere. That was Jonathan's cue to begin that sweet strum that started the moment Jennifer began her walk to meet her man!
When Jonathan, the musician, was asked to serenade the couple, he was curious to if he could bring his wife Emily -- it was already a planned "date night" :) Her being there actually allowed some of their loved ones who couldn't travel to join the festivities through FaceTime. What did we do before FaceTime?!?
What did we do before FaceTime?!?
There's just so much to say about this wedding -- I can't keep it all in!!!!!
I especially love the pictures of both her walk with her dad to her groom, and her fun dance with him to celebrate. It was so personal to me because my family has seen many celebrations around this firepit -- graduations, engagements, promotions. But, never have we been able to celebrate something to the extravagance of this: holy matrimony.
We worked with Miss Milly's wildly talented team to style a southern charm setting to invite the guests to sit and share an incredible evening.
The groom wasn't the only experiencing surprises. Jennifer had a few details planned for her enjoyment, one of which being the Refuge Coffee Company food truck who joined the celebration with their awesome coffee brews! (The coffee company's story is incredibly unique - be sure to check them out.)
