The look of Holland Daze…. So many brides ask me WHY I love what I do, here is a glimpse. First, the WHO- Brides-- Who could be more special to get to know? Brides are filled with hopeful expectation. Their eyes sparkle as much as their new engagement ring when they start talking about who else, but their MAN! When the amazing Michelle Stanislo asked to do a behind the scenes, it encouraged me to share a behind the scenes glimpse at the heart of Holland Daze. She totally rocks photography.

WHAT- Little girls dream of that special walk down the aisle on their wedding day. When I was just about 5, I would gather weeds from the yard and pretend to marry my dad. He played along well. We would often make our getaway in a small paddle boat on the pond. I know you are supposed to get married only once, but he humored me most every weekend. Now winter, was a bit tricky. There were fewer weeds, and the pond often froze, but with imagination we all but sailed the seas!

WHEN- Flowers, ah, I was such a fan as a child. From as early as I can remember, they were always part of my birthday. My favorites were the ones that smelled sweet. These were so much better than the weeds. So, at 13 after being married at least 100 times, my goal was to learn about the blooms. After special permission to go to design school, I was totally in love with blossoms. I was really in love with them. Now, about being in love.

Oh my, how I love ribbon and braiding the stems for special brides. Placing these in the bride's hands, when they get to meet for the first time....total adrenaline rush. If you're thinking I need a twill coat that buttons in the back...you're not the first one, I'm sure. So, not every blossom is fit for a bride. Each one is carefully selected, kind of like Cinderella. When those blooms meet the bride's hands, they totally are deserving

A bride only needs her groom at the end of the aisle. I mean, there is something about that walk to take your groom’s hand, to join your hearts and lives together. And now the WHY. I believe in marriage to my core. I love weddings. Brides should be surrounded by exquisite blossoms and fragrance when they share their vows with their groom. The vows are the WHY. They should be celebrated, honored and treasured.
